The Android Port Challenge is an initiative designed to support African video game development studios in bringing their successful PC and console titles to Android.
As the largest and fastest-growing segment of the gaming industry, mobile games hold immense potential—especially in Africa, a mobile-first gaming continent.
To help African game creators develop higher-quality Android games, boost their visibility, and increase their chances of success, Google Play is supporting Africacomicade in launching this challenge.
Key Information
Who can Apply ?
African Game studio developers living on the continent with a PC/Console game title already published.
What Kind of Game ?
We are looking for PC/console Games already published on a non-Android platform (such as PC, Console, Switch, etc.) that has good user traction and generates some revenue .
The Challenge
Selected Game creators will commit to developing a mobile game with a team .
Timelines
Application closes on November 15th, 2025. Onboarding holds November , 2025. The program runs from November – April, 2026, and studios get to exhibit at several events.
Benefits of Joining the Challenge
Five African game studios with successful PC or console titles will be selected to join this challenge and receive tailored support throughout the program. They will have access to the ARK fellowship program and also be eligible for grant, publicity and promotional opportunities.
